ARIFA facilitated a focused study on the role of the communication sector in national transformation. This project followed the official launch of public opinion collection by the President on December 09th, 2023, underscoring the importance of inclusive stakeholder engagement in shaping the country’s long-term development agenda.
The study assessed key milestones achieved in Tanzania’s communication sector, both past and present, while projecting the future of the sector through to 2050. It explored technological advancements, policy progress, and infrastructure development that have shaped the sector, and identified strategic priorities needed to ensure a robust, inclusive, and innovative communication landscape by 2050.
Furthermore, the project highlighted the critical role of the communication sector in enabling digital transformation, inclusive governance, and access to essential services such as education, health, and agriculture. The final report, informed by expert consultation and stakeholder inputs, provided concrete recommendations and visionary proposals, which were submitted to the national committee responsible for drafting the Vision 2050 document.
